RISD Map

aaronthumbnail.jpg

I am currently working on a new campus map for my college- RISD. I had the pleasure of being shown around campus last week, and I got to see the new museum, and my favorite little city…Providence, Rhode Island. It was a nice hot and humid May day and it reminded me of the Rhode Island summers from my college years.. Del’s frozen lemonaid and sleeping in my car because it had air conditioning! I will post the map when it is done next month but for now it is in sketch stage.

Budget Travel JUMBO Pullout !

Budget Travel Pullout May 2008

I have a big project that was just published in Frommer’s Budget Travel Magazine. I completed 14 illustrations for a mini handbook included in the current May 2008 issue. I loved that they also asked me questions for the contributors page…like what is the best airport that I have ever been to. You’ll just have to pick up a copy to find out (hint: it shares the same name as my studio assistant).

American Illustration 27

Public Bath

I just found out that my ” Public Bath” Piece was Selected to be included in the 2008 American Illustration Annual and show- coming in November. Thanks so much AI! I was inspired to paint this scene after visiting many hot springs in Japan over the years. I love how there are so many different baths to try out as far as shapes and type of water temps and mineral contents!

“Positively Dyland”

I just finished this Limited Edition Bob Dylan Print for Snap Galleries in Birmingham, England. They have a wonderful gallery devoted to rare and iconic rock ‘n’ roll photographs. Since I lived in the East Village for 10 years ( 5 of them being on 4th street)… and my father lives his life by the words of Dylan…this map was very personal and a joy to work on.

Chubu!

I am very pleased to welcome “Chubu” to my studio, and our home. He will help in scanning the floor for small pieces of almond croissants and eating them before the need arises to use the cumbersome Vacuum. He is thinking of starting a blog, but his feet might be too fat to type.. stay tuned!

UPDATED: Chubu CAN type and he has a BLOG!
